Abstract

Vision is one of the most important human senses, transforming light into our perception of reality. The human visual cortex plays a critical role in transforming raw sensory input into the coherent representations that guide our interaction with the world around us. This process utilizes a combination of interconnected cortical areas, constructing representations from edges to complex category coding. In this talk, I will provide an overview of the human visual cortex, present our prior and ongoing work in understanding category selectivity in higher-order visual areas, and present results on validation with fMRI experiments. This approach of combining large-scale data-driven methods with brain data presents new opportunities for understanding and decoding human neural representations.

Speaker

Prof Andrew LUO
