The Musketeers Education and Culture Charitable Foundation

About our benefactor –
“The Musketeers Education and Culture Charitable Foundation”

The HKU Musketeers Foundation Institute of Data Science was named in honour of a generous gift from Messrs Stanley Chu 朱裕倫 (BSc 1973, Hon University Fellow 2011), Lawrence Fung 馮紹波 (BSocSc 1972; HonDSocSc 2010), and Leong Ka-chai 梁家齊 (Hon University Fellow 2021).

Their story began with a friendship formed over 40 years ago, as they set up their first company to seize the opportunities of the changing needs of Hong Kong and the Region.  In celebration of their long partnership and shared life values, in 2008 they co-founded the Musketeers Foundation and named it同心 (“same heart”) in Chinese. The Foundation is committed to promoting creativity, education, arts and culture.

The Musketeers, each a distinguished alumnus and community leader, have been supporting various HKU initiatives throughout the years, from entrepreneurship for students and young alumni to Buddhist studies, scholarships and more. They are determined to help build the future for the younger generations.

“With all the experts and collaborations across disciplines the Institute has, we believe it can solve many world problems. We are proud to be part of it.”
